Guest Post: Sweet Little Girl's Room Lighting

Hi, I'm Susi, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a wonderful website and blog to get ideas for the best lighting fixtures for your home and for decorating projects. I love guest blogging for fabulous blogs like Bird's Eye View. My guest post today focuses on sweet and stylish little girl's rooms. These eight are some of my favorite. I hope you like them, too! Enjoy!

Girl Bedrooms

This sweet girl's room has great style in its details. Pretty fabric on the roman shades and pillows add a lively pattern. Sweet Babar artwork adds a nostalgic touch.

Girl Bedrooms

For a little girl's room that also doubles as a play room, this sofa style bed is a clever design idea. The canopy makes it feel like a girly room, but the patterns, colors and art are anything but princess style.

Girl Bedrooms

Stylish girls' rooms don't have to be all pink to be sweet. I love the gray walls with just a hint of lavender that makes the colors of the bedding and curtains pop in this stylish girl's bedroom.

Girl Bedrooms

A clever idea for making a grand statement: use fabric to create a dramatic headboard and add swing arm wall lamps. These canopies are simple valances hung above swaths of pretty fabricóperfect for a girl's bedroom.

Girl Bedrooms

This romantic sleeping nook is perfect for a stylish and sweet girl's bedroom. Hang a curtain rod from the ceiling to create the nook with fabric curtains.

Girl Bedrooms

Twin beds dressed in white are a sweet option for a girl's bedroom. The bright pink walls give the room a modern style, while the beds add an old fashion touch.

Girl Bedrooms

Blue and white is not just for boys' bedrooms. This pretty blue and white bedroom features a modern floral pattern on both the walls and the bed that is stylish and girly. I love the hanging lantern and the chippy painted stool at the foot of the bed.

Girl Bedrooms

This room is almost over the top chic. I love the wallpaper's large scale Chinoiserie pattern and gorgeous color. What do you think of these darling little girl's rooms? See the Fizz

So with a colour for the nursery decided, it was time to introduce a lamp. I loved the Fizz from Freedom, though wasn't overly taken with it being white.

So I decided that a coat of paint was in order. I wanted to retain the white look on the inside of the lamp. Bring out the blue painters tape and an hour of cursing myself for wanting to do this task! Curves are hard to tape, that is for sure!

Sure looked pretty when I turned it on though :)

The next morning I broke out the Dulux Enamel spray paint in Vivid Orange, and well, lets just say it lives up to its name ;)

Now all I need is to have the carpet installed so I can set up the bookshelf to place the lamp on!

Love this lamp

I am loving this floor lamp form Ikea. And a steal at only $129 smacko's!
I have been looking for a floor lamp for the office for some time, and was beginning to think that I would never find an ideal floor lamp for under $350! Thank you Ikea!

You Light Up My Life

After much debate about this lamp, I ended up purchasing this one from Adairs.

I should explain that I didn't come up with this awesome idea myself, I borrowed it from the awesome John and Sherry at Young House Love. I loved how they put seasonal things in theirs, and thought it was something I could do myself, with things we have around the house.

And I must say, it has come up a treat! So much so that I am going back to get a second one this week for the other side of the lounge room.

Oh. My. God

So, today I was browsing a blog (sorry blogger, I can't quite remember which blog I was reading, but it was awesome!). And they said they got a light fitting from Overstock thinking about using a shipping company.

And then it hits me. They ship to Oz! Oh. My. God.

See, here in Oz, we have to use a shipping company with most US sites. Which is kinda annoying, as generally you have to use a company that pays for the goods as well. And it means they can charge whatever they wish for postage. So if I really want the item, I pay the shipping.

Now to convince the husband we need this lamp.

I think it would look awesome in our lounge room

Lighting

I am loving this light from Beacon, but it seems it isn't available any longer, as I can't find it on their website. So imagine my suprise when walking through Bunnings, when I saw something mighty similar! And for a third of the price! SCORE!!!

Now to convince husband that it would look great in our hallway.

Lighting the way

The other day I made an impromptu shopping trip, and this is what I came home with

Well, just the lamp, the phone and Tiffany bag were pre-owned by moi. It is hard to see, but the glass balls have a cracked glass look to them, that is quite cool to look at. I am still debating on whether to change the shades to a latte coloured one, but not sure on that one, the white doesnt come up to bad.

Despite the husband not understanding the need for new lamps (apparently the unmatching of the old ones isnt a reason) I am glad I brought them. Especially when they were on sale too!
