Artwork?

I am on the hunt for some artwork for our house, so far I need something for the hallway, the office, and the lounge room.

Pity I have no idea on what I really like or want. All I know is that I love thick mounted photos, either really vibrant or black and white.

So here is a few I have found that I do like

Any suggestions where I can find anything else?

The veranda renovation

Our veranda was starting to look pretty shabby. We had planned to pave it a few weeks back, but we had a massive amount of rain, which put a stop to that plan.

So we planned to do it this Sunday gone. But it rained. And put an end to that plan.

So Monday was the day. So we started with this

And with the help of a mates tractor (and my stepdad to weigh down the grader blade) we moved the stupid pile of dirt
.
Until we ended up with this

Now I must admit, I did very little, husband did majority of the work. All I really did was clean the tiles with dishwashing liquid and a broom. We still have a few things to do. Like cut pavers that wouldn't fit in the gaps. And to trim down the drain pipe and replace it with a square pit. The grey matting will be trimmed (it's geo-matting if you are interested, and is awesome. it drains water, but weeds can't grow through it!) and there is a garden bed going in between the last two posts in the coming days.

And to buy this bench from Bunnings, for under the window.

I am thinking of some nice bright cushions, some potted plants, a book and a big tropical cocktail :)

Garden Plans

So, the husband and I have been discussing having a house warming (only 5 years after we moved in!) slash birthday party for him in the new year.

But before we do that, there is a list of things that need to be done. Starting with the outdoor area, which currently looks like this

The fence behind the chairs to the shed, is going. Because I want something to divide the two areas, we're going for a low box hedge that will come up to my knees eventually. The garden bed to the side, (where the wild things grow currently) I am thinking of going with some green tropical like plants. Yukkas, elephants ears, grasses etc.

Eventually I hope it will look something like this

New Blinds

As previously mentioned, we have new blinds. After a lot of thinking, we ended up going with timber venetians, mainly because they were the cheapest option, and well, I want to move out of this house more than I want fancy curtains LOL.

Luckily, Spotlight were having a sale, and I got them half price. It was a pity that the other windows blind was bent and had to be returned. But it is being re-ordered for us, so hopefully it will be here in the next few weeks.

Decorating the bedroom

So our new doona arrived during the week. And given that it is red, I thought it was best I go and find some new accessories for our bedroom.

So in Freedom I found this flower thing (I think it is a Zebra plant), and this vase which I thought it tied in well).

And our lamps (which I brought ages ago, but I can't remember if I showed you or not)

Black cats

My mum is a cat lover. Not quite as crazy cat lover as the woman I met recently at my brothers engagement party, but she does love cats.

When I brought my she was insanely jealous and wanted to know why I didnt buy her a set too. Probably because she is 45 and doesnt wear pigtails as much as me. So when LouLou blogged about her elegant black cats magnets, I decided that I need to find them for mummsie for christmas.

Display Cabinets

With display cabinets on either side of our rangehood cabinets, I have been on the lookout for something to put in them. Yesterday I cam home with this a few items, with the intention of mixing in some stuff we already own.

Orchids in a cylinder from Freedom (who have 10% off everything you can fit in their recyclable bag).

Funky wine glasses we were given as an engagement present.

Small vase of flowers.

I was walking through Target (which is nowhere as good as the US Target I might add), and found this. I quite like it, its bright, and a bit different. I was thinking of getting a long tropical leaf to go in it, what do you think?

And, my current obsession: fresh flowers. This weeks choice is Oriental Lillies

So there you go, an almost finished kitchen, complete with decorations.

Kitchen Aid Accessories

Recently I baked a cake (shock horror I know!) And for the first time ever, my Kitchen Aid shit me up the wall. I had to keep stopping and scraping down the bowl. Honestly, who designed that feature?

So, on a google search tonight, I found Side Swipe Blade

Now to find me one in Australia!

New bed linen

Recently I have fallen in love with the colour red. There is just something about it.

So, when shopping for a new doona, I discovered Adairs were having a sale. So I had to buy this

I wasnt really taken by the European pillow slips, so I left them there, but I am on the hunt for a set of crisp white sheets, and some bright red pillow cases. Any suggestions on where to look?

Malteser Cookies

Recently I was given  a recipe for Malteeser Cookies

And they were the best things I have ever eaten. So I am sharing the recipe.

400g butter
1 can condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
4 cups self-raising flour
maltesers (the quantity at your discretion tongue.gif)

Go on, try them. You won't regret it

Operation Office: Fabrics

I am still thinking about decorating our office, and think I might go for a blue rather than green theme. But that is subject to change. But I have found some beautiful fabrics that I want to include

Amy Butler MidWest Collection

Joel Dewberry

I love this combination!

Amy Butler

Amy Butler Daisy Chain

With our office carpet being the same brown as used in our bedroom, I think the Joel Dewberry fabrics would look awesome, especially with a flair of red, maybe in the form of a vase.
