18 Weeks Pregnant

I started this blog long before I was pregnant, and it was never meant to be about being pregnant, so I haven't directly mentioned a great deal of personal things about my pregnancy. I am not sure why, I guess because it feels a little too personal, and although I know how blessed I am, I don't want to upset anyone who is yet to be blessed.

However, I take a weekly photo of my ever growing stomach, and finally I am going to share it with you. Slowly, ever so slowly, it is getting there.

Tiles Update

So I have finally made a decision about our kitchen tiles. I have decided on a cream subway tile with a glass mosaic tile in brown tones As you can see with my very dodgy Photoshop mockup, it is very neutral. It actually follows the neutral theme in our kitchen.

We had been putting off doing the splashback as I thought it was going to be rather expensive, even though our tiles are mid-range. By the time we have three rows of cream tiles, we don't actually require that many of the more expensive mosaic tiles. Woohoo!!!

Oh, and the best thing about this job, the husband has suggested that we hire our plasterer who is a tiler as well, to do the job. We are estimating that the job shouldn't cost too much, as it is less than 3 square metres of tiling. Fingers crossed we are right, as neither of us is thrilled with the idea of more tiling.

Merry Christmas to one and all

I am signing off for the weekend, as it is my final day of work for the next 10 days, and we are leaving extremely early in the morning to start our christmas madness tour.

I hope the fat man in the red suit pays you a visit and brings you your every desire and that your day is filled with much love, food and happiness.

Nursery Inspiration

Over the weekend I did some random googling for nursery inspiration. I have an idea of what I want in my head, but it doesn't hurt to look at what others have done. Along the way, I found DecorPad, and fell in love with this nursery by Rock, Paper

I love the subtleness of the motif on the wall.

Bathroom Envy

I have been reading Brooklyn Limestone for a little while now, and one of my all time favourite renovation they have completed was their Master Bathroom.

Is that not the most serene room you have ever seen?

Gardening! (Still)

Yes, I am still trying to finish this garden bed! Finally it is done though.

So lets recap how my gardening has gone over the last year.

The red crosses mark the plants have died. Hmm, this is not looking good.

Holly shit, I have managed to keep 5 plants alive in a year! I officially suck at gardening :(

Clothing - Boys

I am in love with online shopping, particularly with Gymboree! So many cute options, so little time (and gender certainty!)

Sucker for Punishment???

I have had a good three years, if not longer, thinking about what I would do when I had a child. How I would decorate a nursery. Researching products that I would like to use. Parenting methods that would suit our little family.

One thing I always crossed off as being too hard was cloth nappies. I couldn't get my head around the concept, even though I knew that they moved well past the terry flats my mum used to use (and is still convincing me to use!)

However, a recent discussion of a forum I am a member of has me thinking that it might "just" be possible. Maybe. Currently, I am leaning towards something like the BumGenius AIO

To start with we will use disposables, given most newborns don't quite fit into AIO's properly, and will continue to use sposies when we are away, but whilst we are home and able to, I would like to use cloth.

Have you used cloth? How much pain am I setting myself up for?

An Award: Cherry on Top

My good friend Cat who blogs over at Life In Cats Pyjamas recently awarded my a cherry on top award, and it really was the cherry on the top of my day!

The rules of this award are:

1. Link back to the person who gave it to you
2. Pass it on to five (or more) other blogs
3. Leave them a comment telling them about the award

I am passing the award onto the following blogs that I think are fan-tab-ulous and very underrated!

CupKates

Days Like These

Little Red Writing Cook

Luscious Life

Ninja Tales

Paint, glorious paint!

The husband lost brownie points during the week, but managed to regain them by painting our spare room over the weekend.

The poor floor copped a battering, but thems are the breaks. We didn't bother with dropsheets, as we will carpet the room. So at the moment it looks pretty crappy, but I can live with that.

I am hoping the boy has the motivation to do all the trim this weekend, but we will see how I go with that one. I am looking forward to being able to start decorating though. Little way off yet, but we have a few months up our sleeve ;)

Nursery Inspiration

Some people put a huge amount of effort into their nurseries and and end up with a very over the top product. Others keep things simple and create a timeless masterpiece***.

Alpha1163 on Rate My Space.

Does anyone know how that change pad actually stays on the chest of drawers? I have seen it done in many nurseries in the US (where change tables don't seem to be as frequently used as they are over here). I would love something similar, but I worry about it slipping off the table top. Does it attach to the drawers somehow?

Lovin' this quilt

I wonder if my mummy could make it for me? Maybe if I bribed her with it being for Dino, I might just have some luck ;)

Shop Stalking -

The husband and I made the decision to not find out the gender of our baby until we are actually holding him/her. I personally think that this is just his way of minimising the amount of shopping I do prior to the baby being born. It is as if he knows me in great detail!

However, his planned is flawed. See, at some point, the baby will require clothes, more than likely whilst I am still in hospital, so that means I have no other option to buy options for both genders! Cunning husband fail!

Currently I am stalking some of my favourite online stores, and have come up with a few outfits I am in love with.

However, I need to fill out my shopping with some gender neutral things, so if you have any ideas on where and what I need, do let the clueless one!
