All the trimmings

It took most of the weekend, however the husband finally completed the architrave and skirtings in our spare room. See, despite having been renovating for the last 6 years, he still hates doing architraves. WITH. A. PASSION.

Being the champion that he is, he completed them with minimal tantrums and dramas.

Of course, being the last room to have architrave fitted means that he has finally got a decent skill level. I was so proud of this particular join as it will require very minimal gooping and sanding by myself!

Winnings

I went through a little bit of a win lately, winning not one, but two blog give-aways!

The first was a beautifully framed set of paper butterflies in the paper of my choice, by the very talented Stormygirl! I have admired her work for so long, not only for her papercrafts, but her decorating style in her amazing house!

I chose red themed butterflies to go in our bedroom, on a self patterned paper.

Isn't it beautiful? It currently resides on our dresser, however I am debating which wall for it to be hung on.

The second was this little stash from TikiBoo Kids. The lovely Kathryn sent me a broach, two magnets, a hairpin and a bookmark all packaged up in a little linen bag.

Thank you both for your amazing generosity and beautiful crafts.

Blankies

As a child I had a favourite blanket that I cherished to the point that I took it everywhere with me. I have no idea where it is now, but I presume my mum has kept it somewhere safe.

So when my new niece was born recently, I quickly made my way over to Etsy to purchase a minky blanket from one of my favourite sellers, The Sleeping Babe

I brought a similar one (in green) for my nephew when he was born, and it was so soft I wanted to keep it for myself! So I didn't hesitate to buy one for my new niece, and I am currently considering buying an adult sized one for myself.

My favourite holiday

Holidays, they are the type of thing you are forever looking forward to, and as soon as you get back from one are planning the next.

Throughout this year I had grand plans on a lovely holiday somewhere, but unfortuantly bills, renovations, work and now being pregnant got in the way of that. Boo hiss to all but the last, but I guess that is life. So now I am left with the fond memories from my favourite holiday: our honeymoon.

The husband had never been overseas before we got married, so an overseas holiday was assigned. We debated between Vietnam and Thailand for many weeks, eventually deciding on Thailand as Vietnam was a little more forign to us and I wasn't too sure how the the very western westerner would cope. We were away for just shy of 2 weeks, and enjoyed every minute of it, however my favourite part of the trip would be when we spent days lazing in the sun in our pool side room, ordering room service, and ducking through the garden for more cocktails. It was pure relaxation.

If I could do it, I would happily book ourselves onto a flight and happily head back over to Thailand for a relaxing mini-break, god knows we could both do with it!

This was part of Blog This's challenge about holidays. Head on over and tell me about your favourite holiday, but hurry, as you only have a few hours. Pin It

Plaster!

It was a long time coming, but after whinging about my plasterer a few posts back, he rang me that night (I highly doubt he reads my blog) and said he would be there the next morning. Excellent!!!

Now to convince the husband to do the architrave and start painting ;)

Missed the start of the spare room (now nursery) renovations? Start at the beginningdestructionchanging of the window (the first time),  building a built in robe, doing the electrical work, and then re-renovating the window. Pin It

Changes are coming

I hadn't really been feeling my blog name for a little while now, and since it looks like I won't be leaving the country anytime soon, a change was needed.

When I sat back and thought what my blog about, I realised it is really just giving you all a view into my life, and now there is a new part of my life that you are going to see into (sorry about that!). And I like birds, so Birds Eye View it became. What do you think?

Oh, and if you are that way inclined, I made a grab button for my blog thanks to the lovely Emma's tutorial. Just copy the code on the right and paste in the html box on your own blog. Pin It

We're all going on a summer holiday

I wish it was for a week or two, but unfortuantly it is only for one night.

We are having Christmas with my family at my aunt's beach house, and whilst the rest of my family is happy to sleep in tents, I don't think my 16 week pregnant hips will forgive me if I slept on a foam mattress. So hotel apartment for me it is!

You could have knocked me over with a coat hanger

I have been reading Megan's blog for a little while now, and loved her house from the start.

Recently she shared her 'Mom Cave' which is actually her walk in robe. And it would terrible of me not to share it with you.

Here it is empty, don't you just love the chandelier.

And the shoes. Oh. My. God. The shoes!

Isn't it the most adorable space ever? I wouldn't have enough clothes to fill an entire section, however I am in love.

Can I live here?

I found this house via Annie at A View On Design, who features some of Australia's most stunning houses. This one was my favourite this month.
