Christmas Wrap Up

Or unwrap. Which ever way you like to think of it.

Given Eliza is only 6 months old, and very oblivious to the whole christmas thing, I went with the minimalist approach to christmas this year: one present from us, and I worded up the big fella about only sending one present down the chimney too. At this stage I plan to keep it that way.

So, from us she received
 A lot of wrapping paper.

Nah, really it was a Wheely Bug Mouse.

And from Santa she received a Boon Bug Pod

We hosted christmas lunch this year, with a total of 14 adults and 5 kids, all the presents took up half of our lounge room!

As a special treat (that I didn't know about until after the event) Eliza was given a bit of gingerbread cookie. My mum claims it contains no sugar, just golden syrup. Thanks mum.

All in all it was a lovely day, sleeps were missed, treats were plentiful and the love was flowing. Next time we host christmas I am asking for a bigger house though.

Now I just need to find an adult sized one of these!

Christmas Present Ideas

It is that time of year again, and I am hinting at christmas present ideas.

Canon Speedlite 430 II Flash

Apple iPad with 3G

A new car (though that said, it is the car you want, not what I want)

And just incase you are feeling really generous, a new house, though we may wish to converse on which particular house for the sake of our marriage.

Colour Me This

As a kid I loved to colour, and have fond memories of going to my Grans house with the worlds largest collection of colouring books. Her collection spanned all the way back to when my own mother was a girl!

As my nieces and nephews have got older and started to enjoy colouring, I have started my own collection, however mine is a slightly more electronic version. See, I scan all the pictures before they are coloured, so that we don't have arguments if two little people want the same picture.

But, I have since discovered these silicon colouring mats that can be wiped clean after use and reused! Genius!!!

You have gotta spend money to make money...

But do I need to spend $1350 to save money?

Even I, who uses the line "but the Aussie dollar is so good right now" more times in a day than I change a nappy, can justify that!

A few months back I saw How About Orange blog about how to make your own gift bow. I had never thought about it, and was amazed at how simple it seemed

So, after wrapping the blasted Ikea Table and Chair set, I wondered how to make it pretty. And then it all came back to me!

So here was my attempt at making my own bow. Perfect it is not, it is a start!

Well, what do we have here?

Have I mentioned how much I love my husband? Not only did he pick the very earrings I wanted on Monday, he brought them on Friday, as I lingered on them when browsing the week before!

Some times I am overwhelmed with how much I love him.

The present . was settled

Well, Iwe managed to settle the present argument today. I was wondering through David Jones (my new favourite home) and I spotted these pretties

Now I love pearls. Diamonds are fine, but I prefer pearls. Always have, most likely always will. So these babies are me down to a tee.

Soooo, I rang the husband to express my love to him in a sickly sweet manor. He suspected I was up to something (drat) and asked what it was that I wanted.

Seems the scarf is now a hot favourite as a gift, given the price tag of the glasses ;)

Oh well, christmas is only 6 months away

Birthdays

With a birthday coming up, the husband and I had a discussion. It went a little something like this:

Me: I will do you a deal
Him: yes....
Me: I will trade my burberry scarf and sell my current computer, if i can buy a new macbook pro
Him:What exactly is a scarf going to cost?
Me: six hundred-is
Him: well there goes our weekend away for your birthday

Now, this poses the following question: if it is my present, why should i have to share it.

Now call me selfish, but every other year I choose something that will benefit us both (to prove this, my mum brought me overnight bags for my birthday this year, and husband goes away more than I do). Husband however only gets presents he can use, like fishing/camping/hunting stuff (ok, so i could use them if i was so inclined, but I am not, so i dont). So this year I wanted something for just me. Something that I could enjoy and not have to share. Sure if we were going away AS WELL as my present, all good, but i dont want to go away as my birthday present. Husband thinks I am being selfish, which I probably am, but its my brithday, and I will cry if i want to.

So tell me, am i being selfish for wanting a present for just me?

Crappy Presents

All this talk of training my husband got me thinking about how many crappy gifts I have received over the years (note: I can train him to buy expensive gifts, but I can't make him understand how the washing basket works)

The top 3 crappy gifts

Number 3: the gold necklace. It was a nice enough necklace. Pity I am a strictly white gold/silver person. Lucky for Brian, it was given by my ex, and not him. There is a reason he is my ex though, and this is just the tip of the iceburg

Number 2: The handbag that I refer to as the Felix bag, due to it looking like Felix the Cat's Magic Bag. If it were any other colour than grey, and was more in the shape of a Kitchen Aide Mixer, I would have been perfectly happy. But it wasnt.

Number 1: a brown sheep. A real brown sheep. One that eats grass. Now I like sheep, especially brown ones, but I sure as hell don't want one as a present. Luckily I boycotted this one. But it still wins the award for crappy gift.

What crappy gifts have you received?

More Birthday Suggestions

My husband can't be trused to buy a present by himself, so I have come up with two more suggestions, both from Tiffanys.

The benefits of the heart bangle is that it has a matching ring that could be purchased for a later present (ahem, christmas). And the for our wedding anniversary, the matching earings. You know, just incase you couldnt think of anything! Pin It

"Twinkle, twinkle, diamond ring,
In a blue box tied with string.
Tiffany's new princess cut,
Twice the size of baby's butt.
Twinkle twinkle, show your spark,
Can't change nappies in the dark."

It is a few months til my birthday, but as my husband is a avid reader of my blog (and a crap present buyer), I thought I would start hinting at present ideas now, so we dont have the same issues we had last year.

Story: Last year we brought a brand new car, that was meant to be delivered in a weeks time. It didnt arrive. So Brian tried with all of his might to get it here for my birthday. It didnt come. Disappointment. It was also iPhone launch day on my birthday...Optus didnt get their stock in. Major disappointment. I wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer. I got a handbag. Tears were shed. By Brian. When I sulked so much he brought me the the Kitchen Aid by the end of the day.

So here are my hints:

Dior On the Rocks Sunglasses

Or Dior Mist 2 in Black

Tiffany Key

That is the start of my list, I'm sure I will think of more as the weeks pass. Pin It
