Love vs Design

I have had Love vs Design bookmarked for a little while now, but never really got around to looking at their site. It wasn't until I saw a picture of theirs pinned on Pinterest that I went and looked.

I am in love with their feather gift tags, and best of all they are free! Now I just have to wait another 8 months before I can use them :(

Baby Cupcakes

Somewhere along the line I recently was sent a link for Baby Cupcakes. Me, thinking they were actually cupcakes, and feeling like some cake, dashed to my iMac and googled. My tummy was disappointed (not that it should have been expecting cake, it's on a diet), but my eyes were not! Why didn't I discover this store a year ago when I had six million baby gifts to buy?

One of my sister in laws actually gave me one of these sock and singlet bouquets and I never took any attention to the store on the ribbon. I wish I had now!

Come on friends, hurry up and have another baby so I can go shopping! Who doesn't love cute little baby socks made into a bouquet of flowers? Its pretty and practical!!!

Cat Thongs

When we got married it was all the rage to have thongs with 'Just Married' imprinted on the bottom of them, especially if you had a beach wedding. Whilst cute, we didn't get married at a beach, so the novelty wore off.

Whilst browsing Down That Little Lane I found these kids Ashito thongs. So terrible cute, and I think a young child would love the imprints just a little bit more than this big child.

Art Smocks

My god-daughter recently turned 5, and if that wasn't a major milestone in her life, she is about to start primary school too!

When buying a gift, I like to give something that there is a high chance of no-one else giving, and something that will be utalised. So for Em's birthday I thought about getting her a personalised pencil case for school, but wasn't sure that no-one else would get her one. Her mother informed me that they have school issue library bags (boo! it wasn't pretty like the one in my head) but no art-smocks.

With that in mind I set off to find an adorable artsmock, and came across Miss Tilly and Me. Allison had the most adorable smocks, and was a complete gem to deal with. She even personalised Em's name on her smock for no added cost!

Within a few days this pretty was in my mailbox. I could not be more impressed with it.

The sewing is A+ and the attention to detail is supurb. It is a far cry from the old business shirt that I used to wear as an artsmock at school!

My gift to Eliza

I received an email this morning from Pinkie McKay about special gifts that we can give our children (and each other). It touched me deeply, and I wanted to share it with you.

* Self confidence: Help your child understand and accept that nobody can be approved of all the time, and when she encounters disapproval she needn't feel immobilised, that she much trust herself, not the opinions of others. Give this gift with a hug.

*Possibilities: Give children the freedom to be anything they choose, rather than limit them by labels or roles. Teach them by example that a boy or girl can sew or play football, cry or be brave, mow lawns or do dishes. Give this gift with a smile.

*Life without needless fear: Encourage children to become 'doers' by showing them that you will tackle problems and not be a worrier yourself. Give this gift with a laugh.

*The gift of loving: Encourage children to be fully alive in every way. Allow them to have adventures, a chance for laughter, fun, creativity. Give them the supreme gift of being able to find happiness in virtually all circumstances. Give this gift everyday through the year.

Whilst for so many little children Christmas is about gifts, I want to teach Eliza that there is more to it than just a present under a tree.

PS: If you are a parent I highly recommend Pinkie. She is a down to earth person who encourages you to have confidence in yourself and your own parenting ways, rather than following some strict guidelines set out in a book. She has helped me many times and I highly recommend you sign up to her emails. Pin It

Social Media Secret Santa

This year the very lovely Telle from FatMumSlim arranged a Secret Santa for anyone with a blog or twitter, and I took part. Like most Secret Santas, we were each given a name of a fellow blogger to stalk and buy a present for.

My very lovely Secret Santa did an excellent job of stalking me, and brought a truely gorgeous gift.
Even the postpak was pretty, everything was nicely wrapped with ribbon and it had baubles scattered in there as well.

As Eliza was napping I was able to wrap it in peace. I was given a wooden Home sign (that now lives on the bookshelf in the office), some chocolate sea shells (which now live in my tummy/on my thighs), a Glasshouse candle (my absolute favourite kinda that now lives in the office so I can smell it as I write this post) and some lethal body lotion and soap. Seriously this stuff should be illegal, it smells that good.

I want to thank my Secret Santa, I love the gifts you chose and look forward to finding out who you are.

Pretty Blankies

Eliza is very lucky, and was thoroughly spoilt when she made her slow entrance into the world. She received so many beautiful things, but one think that gets many comments is her cream pram blanket that my mum brought her.

It is amazing, and really does look like it was handmade. I love it so much. Am so tempted to buy one for a friend who is having a baby soon.

Birthday Wishes

It was my birthday a few weeks back, and we took a family trip to buy my present, but that wasn't the most exciting milestone of the day.

It was Eliza's first trip to Tiffany's!

I was given free choice of anything I wanted, and it was a tough choice. Eventually decided on this (with Eliza's help - she started her screaming thing when I tried this on, which meant I wanted to get out of the shop quickly)
I am having the husband and my wedding date engraved on the large heart, and Eliza's birthdate on the little heart. I am in love with it.

Cards

I have a thing for cards, figuring that a single card can say so much. Thus I have quite a large collection of various occasion cards in our wrapping paper box. I am loving these ones from Winfred Studios currently and have even managed to purchase a few.

So Bright

I am convinced that one of my friends is having a baby girl, and have been stalking Etsy for the cutest little girl things for a newborn, and I rediscovered one of my favourite shops So Bright Designs.

Loving their new goodies.

I am so royally screwed if she has a boy though!!!

Baby Shower Gifts

We all know I love shopping, so I am more than a little excited that several of my closest friends are pregnant, and not only do I get to help shop for them, I also have quite a calendar full of baby shower dates.

Most of my friends have found out the sex of their babies, however they aren't telling the greater public, so it means I am on the hunt for gender neutral gifts. I suddenly realise how annoying it is when someone (ie me) doesn't know the gender of the baby, as it makes shopping a very hard experience.

I am currently loving these burp cloth and onsie sets from Mac and Me

A few months back I saw How About Orange blog about how to make your own gift bow. I had never thought about it, and was amazed at how simple it seemed

So, after wrapping the blasted Ikea Table and Chair set, I wondered how to make it pretty. And then it all came back to me!

So here was my attempt at making my own bow. Perfect it is not, it is a start!

I want to thank you all for entering, I loved reading what you all would buy. And a HUGE thank you to Lou who kindly donated a gift of the winners choice. It has been a pleasure doing business with you, and I look forward to doing more business with you in the near future.

***ConfussionSoup had issues entering the competition and posting on the list, and was put in as number 1, which was a post about how I stuffed up the rules of the competition. Pin It

Gift Inspiration: Onsies

I love onsies, they are practical and can be rather cute.  So, when I made the realisation that I have a christmas present for my nephew, I decided to go on the hunt for a few cute onsies for him. As what else do you get a newborn for christmas who has everything a child could ever want?

The only issue was that all the adorable ones on etsy are american, and I am a bit unsure on their sizing compared to our own system over here.

Then I discovered iron on transfers!

So, there you go. Iron on cute onsies that I can put on suits I know the size of! And another christmas issue solved
