Rugs

I have a new purchase on the way: a rug for the kitchen :D

Ok, so the words and rug and kitchen aren't words that usually go together. Rug and lounge, yes. Rug and kitchen, no. But, I noticed something last night when doing the dishes.

TILES ARE COLD.

And it isn't even winter yet! So I am having this delivered.

It was just pure luck that the nice people at Buyster Rugs offered me a voucher recently! How lovely is that! It took me ages to chose a rug, there was so many. I now have three rugs chosen for our new house, and possibly a new rug for the lounge in this house. I particularly love this one, and this green shag rug.

When it arrives I will be sure to let you know all about it!

More Kitchen Love

Pictures from Metricon Promenade

I do love a good old fashioned American style kitchen! And that dining room, be still my beating heart. (Yes, I am ignoring the practical side of my brain that is screaming "white chairs and children do not mix"

Powder Room

One of the houses we are currently considering has a powder room (or half bathroom). And as soon as I saw it on the plans, I thought "oh, it could have stripes like John and Sherry's", as shown here.

I do love powder rooms, they are so much more practical.

A Kitchen Update

I am loving that I live in Victoria this weekend, as it is Labour Day weekend, which means 3 days off! Very handy if you want to tile your kitchen and bathroom.

Excuse the mess on the benches, it has been raining and everything had to come inside. And I am yet to clean all the excess gunk from the tiles.

We ran into a few issues along the way. Like our slab being less than level in the bathroom. It is workable, just a bit more fiddly than desired. And then there was the skirtings in the bathroom, which had to be removed, and eventually replaced. Oh, and how could I forget the realisation that our washing machine has been leaking water, and caused some dampness in the wall. Nothing is ever simple in our house!

We still have a few tiles to lay, mainly all the fiddly ones that require lots of cutting (and swearing as we break more tiles), and the grouting to go, but we're hoping it will be done by tomorrow night. Then comes doing all the skirtings. AGAIN!

Butterfly Mobiles

I have a few friends who are pregnant, and have browsing the internet for the perfect present. I do love these butterflies, the question is, do I not love them enough to give them away?

Such a hard choice.

Kitchen Tiles - TICK!

I finally made a decision about tiles. Emphasis on the I. The husband wasn't convinced by their darkness, but given his recent complains about the kitchen being too cream, I like the contrast.

Best thing, I ordered them on Saturday morning, and recieved a phone call on Tuesday saying they had arrived. Which means I now need to convince the husband that we need to spend a weekend on our knees for the fun of it :)
