Confession Time

I struggle with being a parent on a daily basis, and part of that is because I don't think I am good enough. Someone always seems to be giving me advice and telling me I am doing it wrong. Strangers, friends and family all do it. Family are the worst though. They cut deep with their criticism.

It has taken me to realise that no matter what I said I was doing, it would always be wrong, as it isn't their way. Somdays you just can't win.

  1. Can totally never win. As my firstborn is getting older, I'm already starting to see evidence of the ways we are screwing up his life (like teaching him that you say Hello in a crazy, high pitched voice). I wonder what kind of emotional hangups he'll have, what he'll say his parents did wrong as he was growing up. Thinking about it is enough to drive you crazy.

If what you are doing works, I'd say keep going. Some people tell me they'd never let their kids cry it out, but for us it's worked wonders. Our boys seem to cry violently for about 5 minutes and then drop off to sleep. If we try to rock them through it, they just cry harder and longer. Others would think that letting kids cry it out is akin to murdering them. It's all down to what you can handle doing and what works for the two of you. :)

  2. April, it's time to stop listening to them all.
Everyone has feelings of inadequacy. It's natural when you're doing something completely new, like being a Mum, but it sees to me that your little one Eliza is thriving and looking pretty darn cute. That's all you have to worry about
