Floors

It took a month, but the urge to renovate has hit again.

Our house is like most modern houses, and has tiles. Which is a problem when you don't like tiles.

I am thinking of convincing the husband to rip up the tiles and relay floating timber floors, along the lines of these

This might take some convincing.

  1. I know what you mean April. I'm not a big fan of tiles either...but I'm also not a fan of floating laminated timber floors. They can't be sanded back after they're scratched (or at least that's what I've been told) and they need a trim around the skirting boards and through doorways to cover the joins and edges. Maybe I've just seen some badly done ones, but if it were me, I'd be sticking with the tiles and getting some nice mats and runners

  2. If we put down floorboards we would pull up the skirting boards and then relay them, so the quad like stuff isn't needed, as I don't like the look of it either.

I've never seen it with a join through doorways though, but we don't have that issue anyway. I'd love real timber floors but I think the $$$ might be an issue. We'll see.

  3. It didn't take you long!! I'm not much of a fan of tiles either, we have timber (spotted gum). I think some of the floating timber can be sanded back once or twice as it has ply underneath & a thinnish layer of real timber on top...
