I love a good online sale. It means I can shop from home (or in this instance, from my desk whilst I eat chinese takeout). So when I recieved the email from Oroton about their christmas sale, I ditched the email, and hot-footed it over there to pick up a few items.

On the third day of christmas

OK, I don't think I can keep this up, as I can't remember the rest of the song :O

Our house as we brought it all those years ago!

I am thankful for my house. As much as I bitch and moan about it, I am thankful I have a roof over my head. And when I think about it,  there are a lot uglier and worse houses out there!


And when I think about it, I am lucky that I never knew the issues with renting, as so many of my friends my age have. It has also taught me a lot of skills. Like how to sand a floor. Install a window. Flood the kitchen. Fix a flooded kitchen. Many skills I would never have learnt if I hadn't moved into a house than needed renovating.

On the second day of christmas

My true love gave to me

a christmas tree!

No, really, he did!

Over the weekend the firefighter husband lectured me about how dangerous christmas trees are, and how they cause house fires. This led him to refuse to have a christmas tree this year.

Today he suprised me by bringing one home. It's a bit small (it's only 1.5m high) but its better than nothing! I need more deco's though. But our house is filled with the smell of fresh pine needles, which I am very thankful for.

On the first day of christmas

my true love gave to me, something to be thankful for.

I follow a few american blogs, and a common theme last week was Thanksgiving. And it got me thinking about what I am thankful in my life. So rather than tell you about everything in one day, I am going to spread it between now and christmas. Because, really, I have so much more than a lot of people at this time of year.

Here goes.

I am ever so thankful for my husband. I love him more than I know how to express. No matter what, he is there for me. Through my ups (far apart) and my downs (often). He takes it all in his stride. Nothing really phases him, I can say whatever I want and he will just take it, and know that I just need to vent. He very rarely says "no" to me, lets me go with whatever I am planning, scheming, buying.

The best decision I ever made was to go our with him again (we had been together in the past but ended it). And the best decision he ever made was to marry me :)

Laundry Tip: Stains

Sorry guys, I will promise to return soon. Things are crazy at work at the moment, and by the time I get home of a night I eat dinner and fall asleep! 

However I wanted to tell you about something I discovered recently. I am a messy cook. I will get dirty no matter what I am cooking. A LOT of my clothes end up with oil stains on them. Majority of the times they are good clothes, that now become house clothes due to the oil stain.

So the other day I had to ring a solicitor about an issue at work, and was put on hold for a little bit. Which suited me fine, as they had their phone system linked to Shannon Lush on ABC Radio. And today she was talking about oil stains! AWESOMENESS!

So here is the trick to get oil stains out of clothes: Apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid (doesnt matter on brand) on the stain. Shut your eyes, and rub the dishwashing liquid in a circular motion. It will change to a jello consistancy after a bit. Wash as per usual. No more stain.

I tried this the other week on a pair of shorts, and it worked even though I stained them 6 months ago. Go on, give it a go.
