Are you kidding me?

Somehow I managed to get myself onto the US Ikea website over the weekend, and saw this

In Australia I only have the option of buying a blue, brown-black and grey brown, none of which I fancy. Let in the United States it comes in white! Seriously Ikea, what is with that? I know you used to have it in white in Australia, so why not now???

As if I wasn't cranky enough over the fact I can't get the big chest of drawers in white (despite being able to buy the rest of the Hemnes range in white), I saw this:

BUY ONLINE? Are you kidding me? I want online shopping at Ikea in Australia, dammit!

  1. Online shopping at Ikea would be fab. I like some of the Ikea stuff but sadly, no Ikea near our house :(

And that chest of drawers is beautiful!!!

  2. It's RIDICULOUS that they don't do shopping online. It's because you end up buying all the other stuff that you DON'T need...tricky!

  3. They did have white ones here because it took me nearly an hour to decided whether I would get the black/brown or the white. In the end I got the black/brown as you know!

  4. I know, I am shattered Britt that I didn't go and get it when you brought yours! It seems really silly not to have it in white in Australia, as the rest of the range is available in white.

BabyMac, I agree. Very rarely do I ever actually leave Ikea with only what I wanted in the first place!

  5. I love this in white. If only Ikea was a bit more accessible to Tasmania!

  6. Oh no, Ikea no longer stocks that chest of drawers in white!? We were in there about 5 months ago trying to decide on furniture for our daughters nursery and those drawers went to the top of our wishlist. We had planned to go to Perth next week to purchase everything... I guess it's back to the drawing board. Damn you Ikea!

  8. PS. They still have white ones at IKEA in Melbourne. I was there the other day and saw them. They just don't show them online any longer

  9. Maybe they still are selling them, but just not putting them on the website. I have noticed a few of my favourite products are missing from the website, but are in store. Thanks for the heads up Lesley. Oh, and if you do decide to sell your drawers, let me know.

SFSC, I can't believe Melbourne is getting another 2 ikeas and Tas still doesn't have one, even small, one! Terribly sucky. Can you mail order from them? I know the NT can.

  11. One is going Springvale way, the other is going to the northern suburbs. It was only announced recently, so will be a few years off, but is meant to be bigger than the already massive Springvale store.

  12. The new store, announced recently, will open in Cambellfield in 2012 and at 41,000m2 it'll be the biggest IKEA in Australia and twice the size of the MCG!
