Spotlight on an iPhone - Sleep Cycle

I am one of those people who have sucky sleep. I wake up tired, generally because my alarm goes off at all the wrong times.

So, when a friend told me about Sleep Cycle, I thought I would give it a go, to see if it improved.

The Sleep Cycle alarm clock is a bio-alarm clock that analyzes your sleep patterns and wakes you when you are in the lightest sleep phase.

Waking up in the lightest sleep phase feels like waking without an alarm clock - it is a natural way to wake up where you feel rested and relaxed.
Since you move differently in bed during the different phases, Sleep Cycle uses the accelerometer in your iPhone to monitor your movement to determine which sleep phase you are in.It then gives you a read out map of your cycle from the night before.

It has made a difference, and as the number 1 app all around the world, I am guessing a few others have thought that too.

  1. I used it more for fun, it was cool to find out about how I was sleeping.

It didn't actually help me out though, the alarm kept going off while I was in a deep sleep- apparently my body should not be woken up at 6am, 8 is a much more reasonable hour!

Now if only Sleep Cycle could educate my son........

  5. I go through phases Amy, I found that my deep sleep cycles were linked to when I went to bed. If i went to bed a bit later, or an hour earlier, i woke up in a light sleep phase.

But I agree 8am is a much more reasonable hour. Pity that is the time I have to be at work!

Kir, I used to use an extension cord for my phone as the powerpoint was in the wrong spot...it took me months of trying to find a longer ipod cable to work that out though!
