Before I kill my husband, anyone know how to remove coffee stains?

Remember how I spent some stupid amount on a doona cover recently? One that I was super duper happy with?

Well my husband decided it was the perfect resting place for his leaking thermos. So no it has a lovely stain on the velvet part of it.

Anyone know how to remove coffee stains? Normal stain remover didnt do the trick :(

Oh, and I am taking suggestion on how to kill the husband too
Pin It

  1. From 'clean it fast clean it right'

"For black coffee on fabric, blot the stain with cool water. Rinse thoroughly with water. if the stain persists, try blotting with some milk laundry detergent and water. Rinse thoroughly with water. Still there? Blot that stubborn stain with detergent and water, this time mixed with a few drops of white vinegar. Rinse thoroughly. As a final step, try some hydrogen peroxide. The reason for the rinsing thoroughly between steps is to prevent potentially incompatible cleaning solutions from being mixed.

For coffee with milk or cream, use the first 2 steps for black coffee, then blot the stain with milk laundry detergent mixed with a few drops of amonia. Rinse thoroughly. Finally blot with an enzyme based detergent."

If you dont have time for this, take it to a dry cleaner and dont heat dry the doona cover until the stain is gone otherwise it may be a permanent feature.

for the husband? hmmm. cyanide in his coffee? or maybe a terrible coffee related accident.

  2. First off DO NOT KILL the culprit, you would just have to spend all that extra time finding a new one that might do worst, and think of all the time you have spent training him thus far? No killing bad idea.

I find that Oxy Clean gets ANYTHING and EVERYTHING out. I use it on my carpets (which are in desperate need of another good cleaning, we have been working in the garden and oy vey its scary) and if you soak an article of clothing in 4 parts water 1 part oxy between 1-4 days ANY stain and i MEAN ANY stain will come out. I was lucky enough to be the recipient of some "worn" baby clothes for my daughter I mixed up a batch of oxy in a big 5 gallon bucket and let the clothes soak for a few days and voila! They were like NEW!
