How to end up divorced

I think the husband is about to divorce me.

Ok, i don't think it will happen as he is too fond of my cooking, but I am certain it did cross his mind last week.

For christmas we set a budget (because normally I go over the top by accident) and I decided I wanted a desk. We had talked about this for some time, and there wasn't really anything else I wanted. So, as you know from previous topics, I searched for the ultimate desk. And I finally decided on the Ikea Expedit desk/bookshelf combo. As soon as I told husband I knew it was coming. It was inevitable. The conversation went like this
H: do you really need that particular desk
Me: yes
H: you realise where I have to get it from
Me: ummm, duh, Ikea
H: and you remember the last trip to Ikea
Me: yes. and it was 4 years ago. Build a bridge
H: you better love me when I am old and wrinkly.

So, I took the day off work and we went to Melbourne. Because Ikea wasn't torture enough, we made a stop at Bunnings and Officeworks along the way. I am mean like that.

Eventually we got to Ikea, and for once, it was reasonably quiet. We cruised through the display section, with minimal wandering offs (mine) and minimal tantrums (his) before we hit the food court. Unfortunately for me, I get nervous on the days when I am due for a fill (2 hours later) and can't get food down, so my meatballs went to waste. Husband however ate his, mine and desert, and was a happy camper again.

So we go down to the market hall, collect a drawer divider, a set of boxes for the desk, and eventually the bookshelf and desk. I think I have made it out of this drama easily. We pay and he goes to collect the car.

It was too easy. I should have known better. Our boxes don't fit in the back of the ute canopy and require to go on the roof. Getting up there is a hassle, but they make it. They get tied down. We're one rope short. Its in the storage compartment on the side we have just tied down within an inch of its life. I watch helplessly. Husband has a tantrum. I run and hide, as I am pissing my self with laugher. I couldn't take it anymore, it was just so comical.

It took him 5 hours to calm down after that event. I think next time I ask to go to Ikea I will be greeted with divorce papers!

  3. lol, I shall blog about the desk building exercise later in the week, as there are pictures.

I love going to Ikea, but just not with B. He literally drags me through the store so I cant look at things :( Fortuantly, I "need" to back during my holidays :P
